Faith is absolute trust in God

Every time I venture out in my life of faith, I find something in my circumstances from a commonsense standpoint that flatly contradicts my faith.

How can I reinforce my confidence in Christ in this continual testing of my faith?

The Prayer Walk

Today, I am introducing a new page to The Prayer Journals website – “The Prayer Walk” (see the tab at the top of this page for future reference).

The Prayer Walk is dedicated to building confidence in the Christian faith incorporating physical exercise with journaling prayers and strengthening a relationship with God.

The Prayer Walk is to steadfastly believe in Jesus Christ and build our trust in Him.

Strong in Mind, Body, and Spirit

Many of us find it difficult to establish healthy habits particularly when it comes to physical exercise. The Prayer Walk is not necessarily just a walking plan or whatever physical exercise you choose such as bicycling or cardio weight training. It is a plan to help establish a healthy habit of daily journal writing, prayer and meditation time including daily physical exercise.

The above quote alone can make many of us give up before trying because we have failed in the past when trying to establish healthy habits of exercising and diet including daily prayer! We know it is critically important for us to do so but the habits don’t seem to stick.

Let me put it another way.

Common sense is not faith, and faith is not common sense.

Yet, when I venture out with courage on the words of Jesus Christ and when my strength runs out, I am faced with a testing of my faith. Why is that? I know better, but why don’t I do better?

“My God will richly fill your every need in a glorious way through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Making The Prayer Walk a Habit

I developed The Prayer Walk much like I developed the habit of writing daily in my prayer journal by taking one day at a time.

NO:
1) No day is the same – vary routes or routines.
2) No steps or reps will be counted.
3) No distance will be measured.
4) No time tracking.
5) No one is competing with you OR vice versa.

YES:
1) Download the Bible Gateway App (or use another Audio Bible of your choosing) and select your favorite Bible translation – use earbuds, if possible.

2) After walking/exercising, record in your prayer journal the ending Bible book, chapter, and verse to pick up where you left off the next time you walk/exercise.

3) After you walk/exercise or before you walk/exercise again, take time to reflect and pray upon God’s Word during your last walk.

Sample journal prompts:
a. How did listening to God’s Word help me through my walk/exercise routine?
b. What did I learn about God? What is He teaching me?
c. When did I begin to feel God’s presence?

4) Let your prayer partners know when you begin your walk/exercise routine so they can lift you up in prayer and encouragement. Don’t forget to let The Prayer Journals know too through Facebook private messenger.

5) Have the attitude of Jesus. “It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that pleases Him.” Philippians 2:13

When I began The Prayer Walk plan, my hips, joints, and legs ached, but I was amazed when I finished my walk how God’s Word carried me farther and longer than I could have possibly imagined. Remember however, that every day will not be the same which is the purpose for the “NO” steps of the plan. The point of The Prayer Walk is to establish a habit and building confidence to rely on Jesus Christ in our daily walk with Him.

My personal goal with The Prayer Walk is to walk my way through the Bible beginning with the book of Genesis. I will be posting periodically my personal prayer walk to provide whatever encouragement I can for you. I will also be including any helpful tips for physical exercise and journal writing.
