God speaks to me in a language I can understand, not through my ears, but through my circumstances. There are times He repeats Himself and still I do not hear or should I say, I refuse to hear. I am remorseful. I turn to my prayer journal every day to read and understand His Word:
“I am happy to do your will, O my God. Your teachings are deep within me.” Psalm 40:8
How do I hear Him more clearly? I write my way through it in my prayer journal with emotions raw and hurting or full of love in prose or poetry. He has instilled in me talents that He commands I share with others. God knows my heart, my mind, and my spirit. He is after all the one who knitted me in my mother’s womb. Who knows me better than God? Who has control over my life more so than God? Who has the power to change my circumstances than God?
I am an ordinary person. I was raised in the Christian faith, however, I only truly came to know and trust in Jesus Christ since 2009. It was then that my daily journal writing turned into a prayer journal which has become essential to my my prayer life. I now help others to start a prayer journal as part of their daily prayer life to strengthen and grow their faith in God. Prayer prompts for writing their own way through it and drawing closer to God (James 4:8) are at the end of each blog post.
“So then, as Christians, do you have any encouragement? Do you have any comfort from love? Do you have any spiritual relationships? Do you have any sympathy and compassion? Then fill me with joy by having the same attitude and the same love, living in harmony, and keeping one purpose in mind.” Philippians 2:1-2
Peace, Sheri
